2-Metlbutyrylcarnitine (chloride) is a gut microbial metabolite which binds to integrin α2β1 in platelets, potentiating cytosolic phospholipase A2 (cPLA2) activation and platelet perresponsiveness. 2-Metlbutyrylcarnitine (chloride) enhances platelet perreactivity and thrombus formation in mice. 2-Metlbutyrylcarnitine (chloride) is a branched-chain acylcarnitine.
