Benanomicin B is a microbial metabolite that has been found in Actinomycetes and has antifungal, fungicidal, and antiviral activities.1,2 It is active against a variety of mammalian and plant pathogenic fungi, including C. albicans, T. mentagrophytes, C. neoformans, and P. oryzae (MICs = 1.56-50 µg/ml).1 Benanomicin B inhibits HIV-1 viral infection in MT-4 cells in a concentration-dependent manner.2
