Description of Chitosan Oligosaccharide

Chitosan is a non-toxic, semi crystalline, biodegradable, and biocompatible linear amino polysaccharide, which is a random copolymer formed by linking N-acetylglucosamine (NAG) and glucosamine units. It is usually obtained by partial deacetylation of natural chitin (chitin) under relatively high temperature and alkaline conditions. The application of chitosan is very extensive, including 1) the advantages of biocompatibility and degradability of chitosan in the field of biomedicine, which make it widely used in biomedicine, including as a scaffold for tissue engineering. For example, the three-dimensional porous structure of chitosan allows it to accommodate sensitive bioactive ingredients including growth factors; The hemostatic and antibacterial properties of chitosan make it a practical wound dressing, especially as these inherent characteristics limit the risk of infection and enhance skin regeneration ability; The hydrophilicity of chitosan makes it particularly suitable for use as a starting material for biodegradable and biocompatible hydrogels. The mechanical properties of pH sensitive hydrogels can be adjusted by combining chitosan and simple addition of hydroxyapatite to meet specific application requirements. 2) Chitosan has been successfully applied in the development of drug carriers (controllable release drugs) in the pharmaceutical field. One of the common studies on this function in gene therapy is the encapsulation of DNA or RNA by chitosan. This product is oligochitosan, also known as chitooligosaccharides, obtained from deep-sea cod crabs through enzymatic degradation. Chitosan oligosaccharides are alkaline, positively charged, water-soluble, and animal like fibrous oligosaccharides found in nature. They are small molecular polymers composed of 2-10 glucosamine groups connected by β -1,4-glycosidic bonds. This product is provided in powder form and is of biotechnology grade.

In vivo Formulation Calculator (Clear solution) of Chitosan Oligosaccharide

Step 1: Enter information below (Recommended: An additional animal making an allowance for loss during the experiment)

mg/kg g μL

Step 2: Enter the in vivo formulation (This is only the calculator, not formulation. Please contact us first if there is no in vivo formulation at the solubility Section.)

% DMSO % % Tween 80 % ddH2O
%DMSO %

Calculation results:

Working concentration: mg/ml;

Method for preparing DMSO master liquid: mg drug pre-dissolved in μL DMSO ( Master liquid concentration mg/mL, Please contact us first if the concentration exceeds the DMSO solubility of the batch of drug. )

Method for preparing in vivo formulation: Take μL DMSO master liquid, next addμL PEG300, mix and clarify, next addμL Tween 80, mix and clarify, next add μL ddH2O, mix and clarify.

Method for preparing in vivo formulation: Take μL DMSO master liquid, next add μL Corn oil, mix and clarify.

Note: 1. Please make sure the liquid is clear before adding the next solvent.
2. Be sure to add the solvent(s) in order. You must ensure that the solution obtained, in the previous addition, is a clear solution before proceeding to add the next solvent. Physical methods such as vortex, ultrasound or hot water bath can be used to aid dissolving.
3. All of the above co-solvents are available for purchase on the GlpBio website.
