(-)-Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) est un polyphénol majeur du thé vert qui inhibe la prolifération cellulaire et induit l'apoptose[1-2]. L'EGCG possède des propriétés de piégeage des radicaux libres[3]. Il exerce également des effets anti-inflammatoires et anti-apoptotiques contre le stress oxydatif dans les neurones[4]. De plus, il inhibe l'activité de la glutamate déshydrogénase 1/2 (GDH1/2, GLUD1/2) [5].
L'EGCG (200 µM ; 1 h) diminue les niveaux d'expression des cytokines pro-inflammatoires et des médiateurs dans les cellules BV2 traitées au CoCl2[6]. L'EGCG inhibe la croissance des cellules 3T3-L1 via la voie miR-143/MAPK7[7].
L'EGCG (5-30 mg/kg ; par voie intragastrique ; 14 jours) réduit la croissance tumorale (cancer colorectal HT-29)[8]. Un traitement à l'EGCG (50 mg/kg par jour) dissous dans de l'huile de maïs administré par injection intrapéritonéale du jour 7 au jour 11, 1 h avant le défi des acariens de la poussière domestique, soulage les symptômes asthmatiques chez les souris en supprimant l'orientation M2 des macrophages médiée par HIF-1α/VEGFA[9].
