S-アデノシルホモシステイン(SAH)ヒドロラーゼは、SAHをアデノシンとホモシステインに可逆的に加水分解する酵素です。 SAHヒドロラーゼの阻害は、細胞内でSAHが蓄積し、SAH / S-アデノシルメチオニン(SAM)比率が上昇し、SAM依存性のメチルトランスフェラーゼが抑制されることを引き起こします。 (-)-Neplanocin Aは、強力かつ不可逆的にSAH hydrolaseを不活化させます(Ki = 8.39 nM)。マウス白血病L1210細胞に対して抗腫瘍活性を示し、広範な抗ウイルス活性も持ちます。 Neplanocin Aは3-deazaneplanocinよりも口蹄疫に対してより強力です(ID50 =それぞれ0.07および0.3μg / ml)。
