バボルバクタムは、環状ホウ素酸薬理作用基のβ-ラクタマーゼ阻害剤です。

バボルバクタムは、特にKPC、CTX-M、SHV、およびCMY酵素に対して強力な活性を持つ広範囲のβ-ラクタマーゼ阻害剤です[1]。バボルバクタムは、濃度が≤2 ug/mLの場合にCPE分離株の72.7〜98.1%でメロペネムの活性を回復させます。定量化された濃度(≥8 ug/mL)では最大限の増強効果が得られます(メロペネム-バボルバクタムでは96.5%以上の分離株が≤2 ug/mLで抑制されます)。定量化された濃度8 ug/mLのインヒビター(すべての微生物種に対するMIC50, ≤0.06 ug/mL)を使用したメロペネム-バボルバクタムは、MIC値が上昇したCPE分離株中93.7%を抑制します[2]。 バブルカトームはb-ラクタマーゼと可逆的な配位結合を形成し競争的阻害剤として作用し、b-ラクタマーゼによって加水分解されません[3]。

バボルバクタムはよく耐容性があり、半減期は1.23時間であり、定常状態の分布容積は21.0 Lです[3]。
