MDL 72527는 폴리아민 산화효소(PAO) 억제제로, 스페르민 산화효소와 N1-아세틸폴리아민 산화효소를 억제합니다(IC50 값은 각각 6.1 및 0.02 µM입니다). 이 물질은 모노아민산화효소나 D-아미노산 산화 효소를 억제하지 않습니다. MDL 72527는 vitro 및 vivo에서 PAO 종속적인 H2O2 생성을 억제하며, 감염, 암 및 고산소증 등 다양한 모델에서 PAO 활동의 역할을 연구하는 데 사용됩니다.
