Adiponectin Receptor

Two adiponectin receptors (AdipoR1 and AdipoR2) are identified. AdipoR1 is most abundantly expressed in the skeletal muscle. AdipoR2 is mainly expressed in the liver. They are shown to mediate increased AMP kinase and PPAR-a ligand activities, as well as to enhance fatty acid oxidation and glucose uptake by the ligand—adiponectin.
