Methyl 5,6-dibromo-1H-indole-3-carboxylate is a brominated indole alkaloid. Methyl 5,6-dibromo-1H-indole-3-carboxylate exhibits cytotoxicity against cancer cells. Methyl 5,6-dibromo-1H-indole-3-carboxylate can be used in research related to cervical cancer and liver cancer [1].
In Vitro, Methyl 5,6-dibromo-1H-indole-3-carboxylate (compound 7) exhibits moderate cytotoxicity against HeLa and HepG2 cells with IC50 values of 13.0 and 36.1 µM, whereas it shows weak or no activity against MOLT-3, A549, HuCCA-1, HL-60, and MDA-MB-231 cells with IC50 >100 µM[1].
