Tropatepine is an anticholinergic agent. It protects against sinistrotorsion syndrome induced by oxotremorine in guinea pigs (ED50 = 0.2-0.5 mg/kg). Formulations containing tropatepine have been used in the treatment of neuroleptic-induced parkinsonian symptoms.
