2-Aminoindan-2-phosphonic acid is an inhibitor of phenylalanine ammonia-lyase ( PAL ). 2-Aminoindan-2-phosphonic acid reduces the biosynthesis and accumulation of total phenolic compounds in the suspension cell culture system of Cistanche [1].
In Vitro, 2-Aminoindan-2-phosphonic acid (0-2.0 μM; 0-28 days) significantly inhibits PAL activity (reducing it to 35.1%-82.7% of that in untreated cells on days 4-28) and decreases the accumulation of total phenolic compounds, Echinacoside, Verbascoside, Cistanoside A, Tubuloside A and Salidroside; except for Salidroside, PAL activity shows a strong correlation with the accumulation of all tested compounds[1].
