α-Ionone (alpha-Ionone) is an activator of the olfactory receptor OR10A6. α-Ionone induces apoptosis by activating OR10A6 and increasing the phosphorylation of the LATS-YAP-TAZ signaling axis in the Hippo pathway. α-Ionone can inhibit tumor formation both in vivo and in vitro [1].
In Vivo, α-Ionone (200 mg/kg, i.p., every 3 days for 25 days) activates OR10A6, which in turn suppresses the growth of A431 cell xenograft[1].
In Vitro, α-Ionone (0-1000 μM) results in a dose-dependent increase in the level of cAMP in A431 cells with an EC50 = 152.4 μM[1]. α-Ionone (100-250 μM) inhibits the proliferation of HaCaT cells[1]. α-Ionone (0-200 μM, 48 h) significantly inhibits the migration of A431 cells dose-dependently[1]. α-Ionone (100-200 μM) increases the phosphorylation of LATS, YAP, and TAZ in A431 cells[1].
