(+)-Cyclozonarone is a benzoquinone derivative found in brown algae Dictyopteris undulata, with activity against T. cruzi epimastigotes, Tulahuen strains. (+)-Cyclozonarone inhibits growth of cancer and endothelial cells, and exhibits anti-leishmanial activity. (+)-Cyclozonarone can be used for the research of lung carcinoma, colon carcinoma, prostate carcinoma [1] [2] [3].
In Vitro, (+)-Cyclozonarone shows selective cytotoxicity toward MS-1 mouse endothelial cells with an IC50 of 0.1-0.5 μg/mL, and has IC50 values of 1-5 μg/mL for A-549 cells, 5 μg/mL for H-116 and PC-3 cells, and 1 μg/mL for HT-29 cells[1]. (+)-Cyclozonarone potently inhibits the growth of T. cruzi Tulahuen strain epimastigotes[1].
