Statine ((3S,4S)-Statine) is a gamma amino acid that occurs twice in the sequence of pepstatin^[1]. Statine ((3S,4S)-Statine) mimics the tetrahedral transition state of pepsin and other acidic proteases^[1]. Pepstatin is a protease inhibitor active against pepsin and other acidic proteases^[2].
