Janelia Fluor® 585 (JF585) is a fluorescent dye with high brightness, cell permeability, and blood-brain barrier permeability. Janelia Fluor® 585 can be used in combination with other Janelia Fluor dyes to support multicolor cell imaging experiments. Its excitation peak is at 585 nM and emission peak is at 609 nM [1].
In Vivo, Janelia Fluor® 585‑HaloTag ligand (100 nM; intravenous injection, tail vein; intraperitoneal injection) exhibits blood-brain barrier permeability in mice, provides long-lasting neuronal labeling for up to 2 weeks, and does not significantly alter spontaneous neuronal activity[1].
In Vitro, Janelia Fluor® 585 is a carbocyanine dye with orange spectral properties and high quantum yield, which shows a strong preference for the non-fluorescent lactone form in aqueous solutions[1].
