Esterase, de foie de porc, à savoir la carboxylesterase, est responsable de l'hydrolyse des esters carboxyliques en alcool et l'acide carboxylique correspondants. Esterase est principalement exprimée dans les tissus qui assurent une fonction de barrière, y compris les épithéliums du poumon et de l'intestin, le foie, le rein et la peau[1]. Esterase est utilisée in vitro pour vérifier si les estérases peuvent hydrolyser ou activer des substrats, des sondes ou des promédicaments. Esterase de foie de porc (0-25pg; 0-625amol) est utilisée comme enzyme standard, avec le diacétate de fluorescéine (FDA) comme substrat fluorescent, pour établir une courbe standard de l'activité estérasique et pour détecter l'activité estérasique dans les cellules BY-2 de tabac et les cellules embryogènes d'épicéa[2]. Esterase (10µL; 1.66U/µL) est utilisée pour prétraiter la sonde synthétisée durant 3.5h afin d'induire une désestérification préalable et d'évaluer les modifications de la fluorescence de fond[3].
