Benzopinacolone (2,2,2-Triphenylacetophenone; 1,2,2,2-Tetraphenylethanone) can be synthesized when benzopinacol reacts with acids of moderate strength, causing the pinacol rearrangement. Benzopinacolone can undergo ring-opening rearrangement via appropriate epoxides reacting with acids[1].
