Description

Bind-Silane is a silane reagent with glass-affinity modification activity. Bind-Silane forms a binding layer on clean long glass plates through silanization, enabling polyacrylamide gels to firmly adhere to glass plates and preventing detachment during gel casting, electrophoresis, staining, and drying. Bind-Silane is used for SDS-PAGE, native PAGE, sequencing polyacrylamide gel preparation, protein or nucleic acid gel glass plate treatment, and laboratory glass surface modification[1-4].

Protocol

Bind-Silane for polyacrylamide gel adhesion experimental protocol[1]

This experimental protocol is compiled based on the research content for reference only. Please adjust according to actual needs.

(1) Reagent preparation: Prepare Bind-Silane solution. Prepare 1M NaOH solution. Prepare detergent, deionized water, and ethanol.

(2) Glass plate pretreatment: Soak long and short glass plates in 1M NaOH for a period of time. Clean with detergent once. Rinse off detergent with water. Rinse thoroughly with deionized water. Finally, wipe glass plates with ethanol.

(3) Long glass plate treatment: Before each gel casting, dip a lens tissue in approximately 1mL Bind-Silane solution (depending on glass plate size) and apply to the long glass plate. Coat once from top to bottom and once from left to right to cover the entire glass plate evenly. After 5-10min, gently wipe the glass plate with clean lens tissue to remove excess Bind-Silane. Alternatively, wash the long glass plate 3 times with 95% ethanol to remove excess Bind-Silane.

(4) Short glass plate treatment: Before each gel casting, change gloves. Dip a lens tissue in approximately 1.5mL Repel-Silane solution (depending on glass plate size) and apply to the short glass plate. Coat once from top to bottom and once from left to right to cover the entire glass plate evenly. After 5-10min, gently wipe the glass plate with clean lens tissue to remove excess Repel-Silane.

(5) Reuse treatment: If glass plates need to be reused, soak in 1M NaOH overnight and then rinse with plenty of water.

Precautions:

(1) Gloves must be changed before treating the short glass plate to prevent Bind-Silane on gloves from contaminating the short glass plate and causing adhesion.

(2) Bind-Silane is only for treating long glass plates to make gels adhere. Repel-Silane is only for treating short glass plates to facilitate gel separation.

(3) For your safety and health, please wear a lab coat and disposable gloves during operation.

General tips
Select a suitable solvent according to the product solubility data. Once prepared, aliquot the stock solution to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Use stock solutions within 6 months when stored at -80°C or within 1 month when stored at -20°C.
To improve solubility, warm the tube to 37°C and sonicate it for an appropriate period.
Shipping Condition
Evaluation samples are shipped with blue ice. Other available sizes are shipped at room temperature or with blue ice upon request.
