Description of Hexythiazox-d11

Hexythiazox-d11 is intended for use as an internal standard for the quantification of hexythiazox by GC- or LC-MS. Hexythiazox is an acaricide that induces toxicity in two-spotted spider mite (T. urticae) larvae of strains WI and AK (LC50s = 0.15 and 0.58 mg AI/L, respectively) and, to a lesser extent, in strain AU (LC50 = 160 mg AI/L).1 It also induces toxicity in European red mite (P. ulmi) larvae of strains HS and US (LC50s = 0.23 and 0.62 mg AI/L, respectively) but not strain CE (LC50 = >1,000 mg AI/L).1 Hexythiazox is toxic to bluegill (L. macrochirus; LC50 = 3.2 mg/L) and D. magna (EC50 = 0.36 mg/L) but not rats (LD50 = >5,000 mg/kg).2 Formulations containing hexythiazox have been used in the control of mites in agriculture.
