In Vitro, The BMP-9/GDF-2 protein is a potent angiogenesis inhibitor that selectively signals through AVRL1 in endothelial cells. Its signaling pathway requires the TGF-β co-receptor endoglin/ENG for efficient activation of SMAD1.
