PE-VF594 is a tandem dye composed of two covalently linked fluorescent groups: one is phycoerythrin (PE), responsible for absorbing laser energy; the other is the receptor molecule VF594. Energy is transferred from PE to VF594 via fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) mechanism (Ex/Em = 450-500 nm/614 nm).
