Descripción (Description)

Acamelin is a Benzofuranoquinone compound that acts as a contact sensitizer. It can be isolated from the heartwood of Acacia melanoxylon R. Br., an Australian blackwood. Acamelin induces positive skin reactions and contact allergy in guinea pigs. It is applicable to research related to allergic contact dermatitis [1] [2] [3] [4].

In Vivo, Acamelin (1% concentration; epicutaneous; single application) acts as a contact sensitizer in sensitized Pirbright white-strain guinea pigs, eliciting positive skin reactions in all tested animals, with slightly stronger and longer-lasting responses than 2,6-Dimethoxy-1,4-benzoquinone [1].
