H-Met-Met-OH is a dipeptide composed of two methionine residues, with the properties of fast absorption, low energy consumption, and less easy saturation [1]. Supplementation of H-Met-Met-OH in low-fishmeal diets enhances the digestive proteolytic activity, improving the digestibility of dry matter and protein, and eventually promotes the growth of juvenile white shrimp in fishmeal-reduction diets[2]. H-Met-Met-OH has been widely used as a dietary supplement to promote the growth of carp, while high doses of H-Met-Met-OH can induce a high proportion of cholestatic liver disease with fibrosis in fish [3].
