Azeliragon -d 9 (TTP488-d 9 ) is the deuterium labeled Azeliragon. Azeliragon (TTP488) is an orally bioavailable inhibitor of the receptor for advanced glycation end products (RAGE) in development as a potential treatment to slow disease progression with mild Alzheimer’s disease (AD) [1]. Azeliragon also can cross the blood-brain barrier (BBB) [2].
In Vitro, Stable heavy isotopes of hydrogen, carbon, and other elements have been incorporated into drug molecules, largely as tracers for quantitation during the drug development process. Deuteration has gained attention because of its potential to affect the pharmacokinetic and metabolic profiles of drugs.
