Etamiphyllin (Etamiphylline) is a respiratory and cardiac stimulant. Etamiphyllin camsylate relaxes bronchial and bronchiolar smooth muscle to open airways, and increases cardiac output without elevating heart rate. The level of Etamiphyllin camsylate decreases in mice with ulcerative colitis, and it is positively correlated with *Bifidobacterium* and *Faecalibacterium*. Etamiphyllin camsylate can be applied to research related to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, respiratory failure and ulcerative colitis [1] [2].
In Vivo, Etamiphyllin (2.8 mg/kg; i.v.; single dose) administered intravenously to healthy male Thoroughbred horses results in detection of the parent drug and three metabolites in plasma and urine up to 32 hours post-administration, with N-desethyletamiphylline as the primary metabolite and N-desethyl-N-desmethyletamiphylline detected only in urine[2].
