X-GAL (5-bromo-4-chloro-3-indolyl-beta-D-galacto-pyranoside) is β -The substrate of galactosidase can be hydrolyzed by β-galactosidase into colorless galactose and 4-chloro-3-bromoindigo, producing a dark blue precipitate product. X-GAL is suitable for research on β-galactosidase activity detection, blue/white spot colony screening of recombinant colonies, and visualization of β-galactosidase reporter gene expression in eukaryotic cell transfection.
