Schizandrin B is a kind of natural compounds which isolated from Schisandra chinensis, possesses a variety of pharmacokinetic properties, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, cardiacprotection and neuroprotection [1]. Schizandrin B is a natural nonenzymatic antioxidant with low toxicity and low cost and has a broad application prospect oxidation inhibitor and it could be used in the cure of many diseases [1].
Schizandrin B (20μM; 18h) reversed the hypoxia/reoxygenation-induced upregulation of IL-6 and IL-8 in H9c2 cells [2]. Schizandrin B (20μM; 2h) significantly alleviated the reduction in HK‑2 cell viability induced by cis‑dichlorodiammine platinum (DDP) [3]. Schizandrin B (1, 5, 25, 50, 100, 150 and 200μM; 24h) inhibited the growth of RAW 264.7 cells in a concentration-dependent manner [4].
Schizandrin B (50mg/kg; 2 weeks; i.g.) suppressed the level of blood glucose of C57BL/KSJ db/db mice; Schizandrin B (50mg/kg; 2 weeks; i.g.) significantly decreased the relative liver weight of C57BL/KSJ db/db mice [5]. Schizandrin B (20, 40mg/kg; 8 weeks; i.g.) decreased the serum markers of cellular damage, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and creatine kinase-cardiac (CK-MB) in diabetic (db/db) mice[6].
