Mertansine - 13 C,d 3 (DM1- 13 C,d 3 ) is the 13 C- and deuterium labeled Mertansine. Mertansine (DM1) is a microtubulin inhibitor and is an antibody-conjugatable maytansinoid that is developed to overcome systemic toxicity associated with maytansine and to enhance tumor-specific delivery. Mertansine can be attached to a monoclonal antibody with a linker to create an antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) [1] [2].
In Vitro, Stable heavy isotopes of hydrogen, carbon, and other elements have been incorporated into drug molecules, largely as tracers for quantitation during the drug development process. Deuteration has gained attention because of its potential to affect the pharmacokinetic and metabolic profiles of drugs.
