Adenosine 5′-diphosphoribose sodiumはヌクレオチド誘導体であり、Transient receptor potential melastatin 2 (TRPM2)の拮抗剤であり、細胞で様々な代謝経路で重要な役割を果たしている[1]。Adenosine 5′-diphosphoribose sodiumは、細胞内シグナル伝達経路を調節でき、細胞の増殖、分化とアポトーシスなどのプロセスを影響できる[2]。Adenosine 5′-diphosphoribose sodiumは細胞ストレス反応で肝心な役割をも果たし、細胞が酸化ストレスなどの副作用を対応できるよう手助けをする[3]。Adenosine 5′-diphosphoribose sodiumは細胞免疫反応と緊密に関連しており、免疫細胞活性の調節に関与している[4]。
体外で、Adenosine 5′-diphosphoribose sodium (100μM)でRIN-5F細胞を処理した結果、PLC-IP3経路を通じて、細胞内カルシウムイオン(Ca²⁺)の濃度を増やす[5]。Adenosine 5′-diphosphoribose sodium (1mM)で小膠細胞を処理した結果、Ca²⁺とMg²⁺の流入を誘発する[6]。
