mCPX is a prodrug of the antifungal agent Ciclopirox olamine (CPX). CPX exhibits bacteriostatic and iron-chelating activities, while mCPX enhances the iron stability of CPX. mCPX inherits the core mechanism pathway of CPX and can induce EBV lytic reactivation in EBV + gastric cancer cells via the hypoxia pathway ( HIF‑1α ). mCPX is applicable to research related to EBV-positive gastric cancer [1].
In Vivo, mCPX exhibits superior in vivo antitumor activity to CPX in the SNU719 xenograft mouse model[1].
In Vitro, mCPX induces EBV lytic cycle in SNU719 and AGSBX1 EBV+ gastric cancer cell lines with activity comparable to CPX, and has significantly greater resistance to iron-mediated inactivation[1].
