Angiotensin II (3-8) is an endogenous C-terminal fragment of the peptide vasoconstrictor angiotensin II . It selectively binds to the angiotensin 2 (AT2) over AT1 receptors (IC50s = 48.6 and >1,000 nM, respectively, in HEK293 cells expressing rat receptors). It also binds to AT4 receptors in bovine aortic endothelial cell membranes (IC50 = 1.6 nM). Angiotensin II (3-8) induces a positive chronotropic effect in isolated rat right atria (EC50 = 4.68 μM) and increases mean arterial pressure (MAP) in vivo in rats when administrated intracerebroventricularly at a dose of 1 pmol. It also increases latency to withdrawal in a tail-flick test in rats when administered by microinjection into the ventrolateral periaqueductal gray (vlPAG).
