SN-38 glucuronide is an inactive metabolite of irinotecan , which is a derivative of the alkaloid camptothecin. [1] SN-38 glucuronide is formed by glucuronidation of SN-38 , the active metabolite of irinotecan, by UDP glucuronosyl transferase 1A1 (UGT1A1) and UGT1A7. It can also be formed in COS-7 cells by UGT1A1 and UGT1A10, which are both up-regulated in an irinotecan/SN-38-resistant cell line. [2]
