Malvalic acid methyl ester is a naturally occurring cyclopropene fatty acid methyl ester that has been found in the roots and leaves of A. officinalis and E. sativa, respectively. It inhibits the growth of P. gossypiella, H. zea, and H. virescens larvae (ED50s = 0.27, 0.49, and 0.49% of diet, respectively).
