Heptamethine cyanine dye-1 (ADS 815EI) a une durée de vie de l'état triplet, un rendement quantique élevé en oxygène singulet et une faible toxicité à l'obscurité. Il a montré une capacité de ciblage des mitochondries dans la localisation subcellulaire intracellulaire et présente un bon ciblage tumoral et une bonne biodisponibilité en s'associant à certains composés, comme TPP[3][4].
