NecroIr2 es un compuesto de iridio (III) que induce la necrosis en células resistentes al cisplatino (A549R) en cáncer de pulmón. NecroIr2 se acumula selectivamente en las mitocondrias, lo que causa estrés oxidativo y pérdida del potencial de membrana mitocondrial (MMP). NecroIr2 puede activar la quinasa serina-treonina receptora interactiva con RIPK3 y el dominio similar a quinasa pseudocinasa mixta MLKL, regulando la expresión de CDK4.
