(-)-β-セスキフェランドレンは、Z. officinaleに見出され、抗ウイルスおよび抗がん活性を有するセスキテルペンである。1,2 プラーク還元アッセイにおいて、鼻炎ウイルスIBの複製を減少させる効果があり(IC50=0.44μM)、HCT116細胞に対して10μMの濃度で細胞毒性を示すことが報告されています。2
