Cecropin B is an antimicrobial peptide.1 It is active against the Gram-positive bacteria S. aureus, B. subtilis, Sporosarcina, and Curtobacterium (MICs = 0.89, 0.98, 0.88, and 0.97 µM, respectively) and the Gram-negative bacteria E. coli, S. pullorum, and P. aeruginosa (MICs = 0.5, 0.78, and 0.98, respectively). Cecropin B also induces membrane permeabilization in, and is active against the plant pathogenic fungi R. solani (MIC = 9.8 µM).2
