コルチスタチン-17はソマトスタチンと構造的に類似しています。このペプチドは、ラットのコルチスタチンと同様に、すべてのソマトスタチン受容体サブタイプ（SSTR）に結合します。SSTR2-5を発現する中国ハムスター卵巣細胞でのフォルスコリン刺激されたcAMP産生への抑制効果は、投与量依存性がありますが、ソマトスタチン-14よりもわずかに効率が低いです。ラットのコルチスタチンと同様に、睡眠と覚醒パターンに影響を与えます。投与することで軽度な遅波睡眠（SWS1）を減少させ、深部遅波睡眠（SWS2）を増加させる効果があります。また、このペプチドの投与は大脳皮質および海馬電気生理学的記録を一時的に平坦化させます。
