7-Ketolithocholic acid (3 α-hydroxy-7-oxygen-5 β-cholic 산)은 일종의 담 즙 산, 7-Ketolithocholic acid 흡수 될 수 있고, 7-Ketolithocholic 산성의 생산을 억제 내생 담 즙 산, 그리고 담도 cholestero의 분비에 영향을 줄 수 있다.
14일 후 7-ketolithocholic acid (400 mg/day)를 경구 투여하였을 때 담즙의 담즙산 성분은 변화하였다:담즙산의 비율은 감소 (45%에서 19%), deoxycholic acid는 감소 (15%에서 10%), chenodeoxycholic acid는 눈에 띄게 증가 (36%에서 59%), ursodeoxycholic acid는 증가 (36%~ 59%), ursodeoxycholic acid는 증가 (2%~ 7%), lithocholic acid는 증가 (2%~ 5%) 하였으며, 7-ketolithocholic acid는 미량만 검출되었다.이 치료를 받는 동안 담도 암석화지수는 2.6에서 0.9로 감소하였고 담도 콜레스테롤 농도도 현저히 감소하였다.
