Lysophosphatidic acid (Oleyl form)은 세포 신호 전달과 다양한 생물학적 과정에서 중요한 역할을 하는 생물학적으로 활성 지질이다. Lysophosphatidic acid은 Lysophosphatidic acid(LPA) 수용체의 작용제로 작용해서 세포 성장, 이동 및 기타 세포 기능에 영향을 미친다. Lysophosphatidic acid은 인산 또는 환상 인산 머리 그룹(환상 인산이라고 함), 글리세롤 골격 그리고 지방산 또는 지방 알코올 사슬로 구성된 단순한 지질 분자이다 [3]. 게다가 Lysophosphatidic acid은 과립체 증식 활성화 수용체 γ(PPARγ)의 직접적인 작용제이다 [4]. Lysophosphatidic acid은 염증, 혈전 형성, 동맥 경화증을 일으킬 수 있다 [5]. Lysophosphatidic acid은 BV-2와 원핵 쥐 미세아교세포의 M1 유사 현상형으로의 분극을 촉진할 수 있다 [6]. 복강 주사된 Lysophosphatidic acid은 쥐에서 아세트아미노펜(APAP)에 의해 유도된 급성 간 손상을 현저하게 줄일 수 있다 [7].
