Aβ 4-42は、AD脳に沈着する最も早期かつ顕著なAβ種の1つである可能性があります。アミロイドプラークコアのシーケンシングでは、分離されたAβの64％がN末端にフェニルアラニンを持っていました。さらに、IP / MS実験では、AD患者で主要なAβ種としてAβ 4-42が同定されました。加えて、V261I PS1変異を有する家族性AD患者の綿毛プラークの成分としても発見されました。また、血管性認知症や家族性デンマーク認知症患者からもアミロイド沈着物中で発見されました。これらの観察結果から、Aβ 4-42は多くのCNS疾患の発展に貢献する可能性があることが示唆されています。
