Forsythoside B는 전통 중국 의학 식물인 Forsythia suspensa의 잎에서 분리된 페닐에탄올 글리코사이드입니다. 이 물질은 여러 가지 생물학적 활성을 가지고 있고 염증성 질환을 치료하고 혈액 순환을 촉진하는 데 사용할 수 있다. Forsythoside B는 폐렴볼린을 표적으로 삼아 폐렴쌍구균의 독성을 줄일 수 있다[2]. Forsythoside B는 아쿠아시스균과 아나토박터 파스퇴리균에 대해 효과적인 항균 활성을 보인다[3].
체외 실험에서 Forsythoside B(1, 2.5µM)로 전처리된 BV-2 세포를 3시간 동안 처리하면 LPS로 인한 세포 내 IL-6, TNF-α, iNOs, NO 및 IL-1β의 증가를 현저하게 억제한다[4]. Forsythoside B(40, 80, 160μg/mL)로 전처리된 RAW 264.7 대식 세포를 1시간 동안 처리하면 LPS로 인한 세포 내 PGE2, COX-2, 아초산염 및 iNOS의 증가를 크게 억제한다[5].
체내 실험에서 Forsythoside B(40mg/kg)를 맹장 결찰및 천공(CLP)으로 유도된 패혈증을 가진 쥐에게 정맥 주사 투여했을 때 혈청 TNF-α, IL-6, HMGB1, 골수세포에 발현된 유발 수용체(TREM-1), 내독소 수준을 감소시키고 IL-10 수준을 상향 조절하고 폐, 간, 소장에서 과산화물 농도를 감소시켰다[6]. Forsythoside B(10, 40mg/kg)를 척수 손상(SCI)을 가진 쥐에게 복강 주사 투여했을 때 염증 인자 수준을 유의하게 감소시키고 별세포 섬유화를 억제하고 신경세포 사멸과 조직 결손을 줄이고 운동 기능 회복을 촉진했다[7].
