Description of YVAD-CHO (trifluoroacetate salt)

YVAD-CHO is an inhibitor of caspase-1/interleukin-1β converting enzyme (ICE) and a non-acetylated form of Ac-YVAD-CHO . It prevents ICE-like and CPP32-like proteinase activity and inhibits apoptosis induced by ceramide or irinotecan in 4B1 cells when used at a concentration of 600 µM. YVAD-CHO (100 µM) also prevents chromogranin A-induced cell death of primary rat microglia but not primary rat cerebellar granule neurons.
