20S Proteasome Aktivator 1 ist ein wirksamer Aktivator des 20S-Proteasoms mit IC50-Werten von jeweils 0,3 μM, 0,7 μM und 1,8 μM für Trypsin-ähnliche Stellen, Chymotrypsin-ähnliche Stellen und Caspase-ähnliche Stellen. Es kann in Zellsystemen synthetisiert werden und verhindert die Anhäufung der pathogenen A53T-Mutante von α-Synuclein. Der Proteasom-Aktivator 1 des 20S kann zur Erforschung neurodegenerativer Erkrankungen eingesetzt werden.
