Sample solution is provided at 25 µL, 10mM.
Neuropeptide Y (NPY) (1-24) is an N-terminal fragment of NPY, a neuropeptide involved in controlling appetite, blood pressure, cardiac contractility, and intestinal secretion. NPY (1-24) does not inhibit [3H]-NPY binding in rat CNS membranes at concentrations up to 10 µM and has no effect on the twitch response of isolated rat vas deferens either alone (EC50 = >1 µM) or when used in combination with the C-terminal fragment NPY (25-36) at a concentration of 1 µM. NPY (1-24) stimulates histamine release from isolated rat peritoneal mast cells with a lower efficacy than full length NPY.
