Description of Perfluoro(2-ethoxyethane)sulfonic Acid

Perfluoro(2-ethoxyethane)sulfonic acid is a perfluoroalkyl substance (PFAS).1 It inhibits iodide uptake by HEK293T cells expressing the human sodium/iodide symporter (NIS) without inducing cytotoxicity when used at a concentration of 100 µM. Perfluoro(2-ethoxyethane)sulfonic acid has been found in river water.2 It has been used as a model compound of perfluorinated sulfonic acid polymers as fuel cell ionomers.3
